For the first time the European ICT Prize awards ceremony took place at CeBIT, the world's largest ICT trade fair in Hanover, Germany.

European Commissioner Mrs Viviane Reding declared the 20 Grand Prize Nominees for European ICT Prize Winners and awarded the three Grand Prizes of €200,000 each to Telepo(SE) for Telepo Business Communication solution, Transitive Corporation (UK) for QuickTransit and TREVENTUS (AT) Mechatronics for ScanRobot, of equal merit.

The Winners and Grand Prize Winners were congratulated by Prof. Wolfgang Wahlster, Chairman of the Executive Jury, Director and CEO of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, DFKI; Mr Walter Hirche, Deputy Prime Minister of Niedersachsen; Mr Ernst Raue, CEO, CeBIT; Mr Heinz-Paul Bonn, Vice President, BITKOM; and Dr Ben Veltman, Chairman of Euro-CASE.

The European ICT Prize is the most distinguished prize for innovative products and services in the field of ICT.

The prize is open to companies or organisations that present an innovative ICT product or service with a promising market potential.

The European ICT Prize is organised by Euro-CASE, the European Council of Applied Sciences, Technologies and Engineering, with the sponsorship and support of the European Commission.
